Do bed bugs carry disesase?

Although bed bugs can harbor pathogens in their bodies, there are currently no documented cases of bed bugs transmitting any diseases to humans at this time. However, lab tests have found that bed bugs can carry the causative agents for anthrax, plague, typhus, tularemia, yellow fever and numerous other blood infesting disease organisms.

Bed bugs are making a comeback nationwide and the pest control industry is seeking new technologies to combat the increasingly pesticide-resistant insects. Cutting-edge technologies at both ends of the temperature spectrum include Cryonite which uses a non-toxic carbon dioxide snow to instantly freeze and kill the noxious pests and giant infrared heaters that raise the temperature in a room and bake the bugs to death. The University of Minnesota is working on a trap that simulates a sleeping human, the bed bug's favorite meal.

Perhaps the most popular weapon in the bed bug-fighting arsenal – possibly because of its sloppy kisses and wagging tail – is the dog. Dogs, which have been trained to sniff out weapons, arson, drugs, missing persons, termites and cancer, are now being trained to detect and pinpoint bed bugs and their eggs, helping exterminators target treatment areas.

The average dog has 200 to 250 million scent receptors in its nose. Its nasal membranes cover seven square meters. In comparison, human nasal membranes cover barely half a meter and contain only 5 million receptors. A dog's scenting ability is so sensitive it can smell things that can't be detected by the most sensitive scientific instruments. Depending on the dog and its training, a dog's sensitivity to odors is 10 to 100 times greater than man's.

Terran Macro and Micro Strategies and Tips for Starcraft 2

Terran Macro Strategy - Overview
When we talk about macro strategies in Starcraft 2, generally we are talking about "big picture" strategies such as ensuring your economy is growing quickly and that you are continuing to build buildings and upgrade them.  It can also refer to collecting resources and generating units.  Having a good macro strategy will definitely be a large part of the outcome of your battles - if you forget to collect or spend resources, let your economy falter, or don't upgrade your buildings, you are sure to lose in battle.  For instance, if at the start of the game you are winning and catch the enemy in a surprise rush attack, but then forget to spend resources on constructing units because you are so caught up in the battle, your enemy who is using smart macro strategies will soon recover and then overwhelm you with the strength of his economy and his ability to quickly produce and replace lost units. Here are some of the best ideas I've seen for Terran Macro Strategy.  I learned these strategies and more from a terrific Starcraft 2 guide that I highly recommend.

Terran Macro - Using Hotkeys
There is virtually no way to elevate yourself to the more advanced leagues without the use of hotkeys.  These shortcuts allow you to focus on specific battles while continuing to produce and upgrade your units and buildings.  After you've played several games, you will hopefully have memorized the right hotkey configurations.  The most basic configs include Unit abilities (R - Snipe), Building (C - Command Center), Unit training (C - Medic), etc.  You can find more about Terran Build Orders here.

Setting up your unit producing buildings as a single hotkey will make it easy for you to keep tabbing through each building until you get to the one you want, and then simply be able to click on a key and build additional units.  This setup will undoubtedly save you in many close battles.  It may even be a little simpler to separate each unit producing buildings into a separate hotkey (if you're willing to memorize them all) because then you won't have to tab on through other buildings - you'll just be able to click the hotkey for each building instantly. This can accelerate production slightly and is helpful when every second counts.

Terran Macro - Never Que more than one or two Units
Sometimes it can be really tempting to just throw a bunch of units in que so you don't have to keep dealing with adding units as you accumulate resources.  If you use the hotkey strategy above, this is not really necessary and is even a little wasteful.  Starcraft 2 will collect the minerals and gas that each unit costs as soon as they are entered in the que.  So even though you've spent the minerals and gas, if you have a long que you may not get to enjoy that spend for several minutes.  It's way better to use those resources immediately, perhaps to build another Factory that will then allow you to produce more units more quickly.

Terran Micro Strategy - Overview
Your micro strategy is also very important as a Terran. By far the most important thing to do is make sure you are continually scouting and harassing your enemy.  As long as you keep scouting him, you'll be able to figure out his strategy based on the buildings and units he produces, particularly in early to mid-game.  One of the best scouting guides I've seen on the web is the Terran Scouting Guide.  It also shows you how to find and defend against enemy scouting activity.

Terran Micro - Control Groups
Configuring the control groups correctly throughout each game is another way to quickly and easily help you move around your units.  Generally, it's a good idea to put your entire army in one control group in case you need to defend a major attack, but while it can be tempting to go for an all out attack with this group, don't do it - you'll end up leaving your buildings defenseless and this can be very costly.  As for setting up specific control groups, make sure to set up groups that make sense - like combining Marines and Marauders into one group because they make a great team.  Make sure to also set up separate groups for air and land attacks.  Putting your Ghosts into a group is also really smart, especially when fighting Protoss with their strong shields and defense.

Terran Micro - Focus Fire
Focus fire is largely overlooked in Starcraft, but can really be an effective micro technique.  When using it, make sure to choose your control group and then target a single enemy unit, using focus fire until it's destroyed before moving onto the next one.  An especially good time to use it is if the enemy group is retreating - use focus fire as you keep advancing on the enemy in order to inflict the most amount of damage while they retreat.

Children's Toys – Sylvanian Families Toys Are The Best

Toys provide an imaginary world for children and the right toys will help inculcate reasoning faculties and imagination in your children. This was a greater attraction for kids, and they easily made an attachment with these characters, because of their similarities to the human beings and their way of living.

The children's toys consisted of various families like the Beaver family, the Hedgehog Family, the Mice family, the Guinea Pig family as well as the Bear family. Each such family had a surname of their own and different names for all the different members of the family. For example the Guinea Pig family had the surname Pettyfur.

The Perryfur family consisted of the members Andrew, Penny, Nicola and Peter. The Pettyfurs also had two babies of their own, named Simon and Lindsay. The toy makers tried making everything look like a real family household, the reason why they introduced the tiny cottages designed especially for the different Sylvanian families. The cottages had beds and sofas for relaxing, a dining table where the family was to have dinner together and the coffee table where the families would sit and have their evening tea or coffee.

The Sylvanian family babies also had a tiny beds or cradles of their own, with little bottles for them to drink milk from. Lately, the Sylvanian Families Caravan edition was launched, which had the story of the Sylvanian families going out for trade, like their ancestors. The caravans had everything that was required for a regular household, and hence was a very exciting and popular concept for kids.

Stacking is gently gaining fame today. As a matter of fact there are even competitions devoted for those who love stacking. The main idea for this kind of sport might have been derived from the stacking toys that parents buy for their kids during their toddler years.  So what could be the reason why there are kids who enjoy playing with this kind of toy? What are the benefits that they get from it? Are there specific skills and abilities that are honed in playing with this toy?

Stacking toys are sold in several kinds. There are nesting cups, stacking rings, stacking blocks and stacking cups. If you’re getting this kind of plaything for an infant or a 6-month old baby, you can choose the stacking or nesting cups. Ideally, the number of cups should be from 6 to 9, this way children can get an idea about different sizes. They should also be in solid colors, so you can boost your kids’ ability in recognizing colors. Although. Some manufacturer’s produce cups that are designed or that has pictures in them to make them more attractive, it may not be as efficient in helping kids to recognize colors. If you really want one that has a design, you can scout for those with little pictures only. Stacking blocks that has letters, pictures or numbers on them can be bought for toddlers or bigger kids.

This kind of toy targets four different abilities or skills. First, it will enhance your kids’ hand and eye coordination. For toddlers this will enable them to grasp at things better. You can teach them to place the smaller cups inside the bigger ones, which would be a basic skill for beginners and infants of course. They would also need your close supervision while at play. For toddlers, you can instruct them to place the cup on top of each other and make them imagine how they can create forms like pyramids, etc. If they’re not able to stack them correctly and the cups tumble, treat is as a part of the play. The kids might perceive tumbling or knocking down of the cups as failing, so you have to guide and support them accordingly.  Next ability would be color recognition. Here, you can talk to your baby or kid while he or she is holding a specifically-colored cup. Tell him what the color of that cup is or better yet ask him or her to pick the cup that is blue or red in color. You are not only honing the kids’ color recognition skills but also his or her listening ability as well as the overall communication skills of the child. The introduction of the concept of size is also made easier through this tool. You can teach your child which one is small and which one is big. Then you can guide him or her to stack according to size.  Last but not the least; the kids’ language skills are enhanced. It may be a one way conversation at first but rest assured in this process your kids are learning even at play.
