Fight the Drought With Hot Water!

At first it might sound odd, but if you stop and think about it you will realize you run a lot of water down the drain while you wait for hot water to reach the fixture. A typical family of four wastes up to 15,000 gallons of water per year running water down the drain while waiting for hot. You could collect the water in containers and use it for something else like watering plants or flushing the toilet. Oh boy, doesn’t that sound like fun!

There are however low cost, easy to install systems that you can purchase for your home which will eliminate running all that water down the drain. Several types of systems are available, and they all save you water, but they all have pros and cons. We shall examine several of these systems and you can decide if such a system, and specifically which type of system would best suit your needs.

There is really only one basic way to get hot water to a distant fixture without running water down the drain, circulate the water in a loop back to the water heater inlet. The way in which the water is circulated and how it is controlled varies with the different types and brands of hot water delivery systems.

The first system we shall examine is the circulating system that uses a dedicated return line to get water from the fixtures back to the water heater inlet. The hot water piping should be looped from fixture to fixture, and at the last fixture a pipe is run back to the inlet of the water heater. A pump is included in the line either at the water heater outlet or between the return line and the water heater inlet.

The circulating pump is very low power and pumps only a very low flow, but it doesn’t take much flow to keep the entire hot water piping system full of hot water. This type of system provides the fastest hot water of any system when plumbed properly. Truly instant hot water when you turn on the tap. A big drawback however, is the amount of energy that this system uses. To keep the piping full of heated water requires a lot more energy and makes your water heater work a lot harder. The cost of the energy to heat water is much greater than the cost of the water itself. In some states including California it is not legal to install such systems anymore due to the energy conservation regulations for new home construction. Installing such a system would probably be very expensive since it would most likely involve serious plumbing to add that return line. One more problem with circulating systems is that they can not be used with tankless water heaters. Since tankless heaters take longer to get you the hot water, they waste more water than traditional heaters. They are not however compatible with circulating systems.

Other systems use the cold water line as the return. All water heaters have a cold water inlet, and thus the cold water supply at each fixture connects back to the water heater inlet. By placing a pump at the fixture the cooled off hot water left in the piping after the last use can be pumped into the cold water line, until the hot water reaches the fixture. There are basically two types of systems that utilize the cold water line as the return. One type of system controls the pump that’s located at the fixture by temperature. When the water at the pump (fixture) reaches a pre-set temperature the pump shuts off. Typically it’s about 80 or 90 degrees.

There are several problems with this type of system. One problem is that you don’t have instant hot water, you have instant warm water. So if you want hot water you still have to run water down the drain, although you will get hot water more quickly than with a normal plumbing system. Another problem is that your cold water line is now going to be full of warm water, and some people like cold water from the cold water tap, not warm water. In that case you would have to run water down the drain to get cold water. Laing makes such a system; the autocirc system, which retails for around $230.00. RedyTemp makes one with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of over $500, but I’ve seen it for sale on the RedyTemp site for $325.

A better system, in my humble opinion, is a demand system. A demand system is similar to the laing and RedyTemp systems in that the pump is placed at the fixture furthest from the water heater, and connects to the hot and cold water lines. The difference is in the control method. With a demand system the user must demand hot water by pressing a button. Pressing the button starts the pump which pumps the water from the heater to the fixture at high speed, so that one gets his water faster than normal. When the pump senses a sudden increase in water temperature is shuts off, preventing the cold water line from filling with warm water. Once the pump shuts off you have nearly instant hot water at the tap.

Demand systems have more powerful pumps so that you get your water faster. Since demand pumps only run for a few seconds, they use very little power, typically about $1 - $2 dollars per year in electricity. Some demand hot water systems will work with tankless water heaters; it depends on whether the pump is powerful enough to turn on the heater. Hot water demand systems are manufactured by Metlund and Chilipepper Sales. Metlund has several models, and vary in price from about $350 to over $800. If you have a tankless heater you should make sure the pump you’ve chosen will operate the flow switch. The smaller models will not. Chilipepper Sales manufactures only one model, the Chilipepper Model CP6000. The CP6000 has the most powerful pump on the market and will run any tankless water heater made. The CP6000 sells for about $180.

Demand hot water systems are the only ones that provide faster hot water without running water down the drain, and are energy efficient. Demand systems are truly green products and friendly to the environment. Feel good when you use your hot water, install a demand system in your home.

The Modern Seven Day Week: Exploring the History of a Lie

Christians who worship on Sunday base this practice on the belief that Christ arose from the tomb on Sunday. Jews and Christians who worship on Saturday do so because it is the seventh day of the week. Both parties base their belief, and thus their practice, on an assumption. The assumption is that because the progression of days was not changed at the time the Julian calendar transitioned to the Gregorian, the modern week is identical to the Biblical week. Therefore, the "logical conclusion" is that Saturday is indeed the Bible Sabbath and Sunday is the day on which Christ arose from the grave. The facts of the Julian calendar itself, however, prove this assumption is false.

A well-known adage is that those who forget history are doomed to repeat the mistakes of history. Likewise, those who have never learned the facts of calendar history have built an entire belief structure on a faulty foundation: the assumption that weeks have cycled continuously and without interruption ever since Creation. It is of vital importance to all, regardless of their religion, to study the history of the Julian calendar. Assembling the missing puzzle pieces of historical fact reveals when a continuous weekly cycle of seven days became the standard measurement of time – and it was not at Creation.

JULIAN CALENDAR ESTABLISHED

The calendar of the Roman Republic was based on lunar phases. Pagan Roman priests, called pontiffs, were responsible for regulating the calendar. Because the pontiffs could also hold political office, it provided opportunity for abuse. Intercalating (1) an extra month could keep favored politicians in office longer, while not intercalating when necessary could shorten the terms of political opponents.

By the time of Julius Cæsar, months were completely out of alignment with the seasons. Julius Cæsar exercised his right (2) as pontifex maximus (3)(high priest) and reformed what had become a cumbersome and inaccurate calendar.(4)

In the mid-1st century B.C. Julius Cæsar invited Sosigenes, an Alexandrian astronomer, to advise him about the reform of the calendar, and Sosigenes decided that the only practical step was to abandon the lunar calendar altogether. Months must be arranged on a seasonal basis, and a tropical (solar) year was used, as in the Egyptian calendar . . . . (5)

Notice that Sosigenes' big innovation was an abandonment of lunar calendation:

The great difficulty facing any [calendar] reformer was that there seemed to be no way of effecting a change that would still allow the months to remain in step with the phases of the Moon and the year with the seasons. It was necessary to make a fundamental break with traditional reckoning to devise an efficient seasonal calendar.(6)

To bring the new calendar into alignment with the seasons required adding an additional 90 days to the year. This was done in 45 B.C., creating a year of 445 days. "This year of 445 days is commonly called by chronologists the year of confusion; but by Macrobius, more fitly, the last year of confusion."(7) The first puzzle piece in establishing the truth of the calendar, is to realize that the Julian week of 45 B.C., did not look like the Julian week when Pope Gregory XIII modified it, and thus did not look like the modern Gregorian week of today. This is the first assumption made by both Jews and Christians, regardless of the day on which they worship.(8)

The Julian calendar, like the calendar of the Republic before it, originally had an eight-day cycle.

The Roman eight-day week was known as internundinum tempus or "the period between ninth-day affairs." (This term must be understood within the context of the ancient Roman mathematical practice of inclusive counting, whereby the first day of a cycle would also be counted as the last day of the preceding cycle.(9))The "ninth-day affair" around which this week revolved was the nundinæ, a periodic market day that was held regularly every eight days.(10)

Early Julian calendars were not constructed in grids as are modern calendars, but the dates were listed in columns, with the days of the week designated by the letters A through H.(11) For example, January started with day "A" and would proceed through the eight days of the week, with the last day of the month being day "E." Unlike the Hebrew calendar, the Roman calendar had a continuous weekly cycle. Because January ended on day "E", February began on day "F". Likewise, February ending on day "A" started March off on day "B":

Following is a reconstruction (13) of the Fasti Antiates, the only known pre-Julian calendar still in existence (14) dating from the 60s B.C. found at the site of Nero's villa in Antium.

This calendar was painted on plaster with the letter A painted red to indicate the start of the week. The months are arranged in 13 columns. January, on the left, begins on day "A" and ends on day "E". At the bottom of each column are large Roman numerals showing the number of days in that month. The far right hand column is the 13th, intercalary month. Additional letters appear beside the week-day letters. These indicated what sort of business could or could not be conducted on that day.

All examples of Julian fasti, or calendars, date from the time of Augustus(15) (63 B.C. – 14 A.D.) to Tiberius (42 B.C. – 37 A.D.) If the assumption is correct that Saturday is the Bible Sabbath because the weekly cycle was not interrupted at the calendar change from Julian to Gregorian, than this should be easily proven from the early Julian calendars still in existence. An example of a Julian fasti is preserved on these stone fragments and provides the second, confirming piece of the puzzle in establishing the truth of calendar history. The eight-day week is clearly discernible on them verifying that the eight-day week was still in use by the Romans during and immediately following the life of Christ.

It is important to remember that the Biblical week as an individual unit of time defined in Genesis 1, consisted of only seven days: six working days followed by a Sabbath rest on the last day of the week. The eight-day cycle of the Julian calendar was in use at the time of Christ. However, the Israelites would not have kept the seventh-day Sabbath on the eight-day weekly cycle of the Julian calendar. This would have been idolatry to them. Even when the Julian week shortened to seven days, it still did not conform to the weekly cycle of the Biblical week nor did it resemble the modern week in use today.

SEVEN-DAY PLANETARY WEEK

The decline of the eight-day Roman week was caused by two factors: A) the expansion of the Roman Empire(16) which exposed the Romans to other religions and led, in turn, to B) the rise of the cult of Mithras.(17) The role Mithraism played in restructuring the Julian week is significant for it was a strong competitor of early Christianity.(18)

It seems as if some spiritual genius having control over the pagan world had so ordered things that the heathen planetary week should be introduced just at the right time for the most popular Sun cult of all ages to come along and exalt the day of the Sun as a day above and more sacred than all the rest. Surely this was not accidental.(19)

Under these two factors, the Julian week began a centuries-long evolutionary process that ended in the week as it is known today. The original seven-day planetary week is the third and final piece of the puzzle proving that Saturday is not the Bible Sabbath, nor Sunday the first day of the Biblical week. This transformation took several hundred years. Franz Cumont, widely considered to be a great authority on Mithraism, links the acceptance of the seven-day week by Europeans to the popularity of Mithraism in pagan Rome:

It is not to be doubted that the diffusion of the Iranian [Persian] mysteries has had a considerable part in the general adoption, by the pagans, of the week with the Sunday as a holy day. The names which we employ, unawares, for the other six days, came into use at the same time that Mithraism won its followers in the provinces in the West, and one is not rash in establishing a relation of coincidence between its triumph and that concomitant phenomenon.(20)

In Astrology and Religion Among the Greeks and Romans, Cumont further emphasizes the pagan origins and recent adoption of a seven-day week with its holy day being Sunday:

"The pre-eminence assigned to the dies Solis [day of the Sun] also certainly contributed to the general recognition of Sunday as a holiday. This is connected with a more important fact, namely, the adoption of the week by all the European nations.(21)

The immense significance of this for Christians is found in the fact that Sunday cannot be the day on which Christ arose from the dead, because Sunday did not exist in the Julian calendar of Christ's day. Nor can Saturday be the Biblical seventh-day Sabbath because the pagan planetary week originally began on Saturday.

The following drawing of a stick calendar found at the Baths of Titus (constructed A.D. 79 – 81) provides further proof that neither the Biblical Sabbath nor the day of Christ's resurrection can ever be found using the Julian calendar. The center circle contains the 12 signs of the zodiac, corresponding to the 12 months of the year. The Roman numerals in the left and right columns indicate the days of the month. Across the top of the stick calendar appear the seven planetary gods of the pagan Romans.

Roman Stick Calendar

Saturday, (or dies Saturni – the day of Saturn) was the very first day of the week, not the seventh. As the god of agriculture, he can be seen in this preëminent position of importance, holding his symbol, a sickle. Next, on the second day of the pagan planetary week, is seen the sun god with rays of light emanating from his head. Sunday was originally the second day of the planetary week and was known as dies Solis. The third day of the week was dies Lunæ (day of the Moon – Monday). The moon goddess is shown wearing the horned crescent moon as a diadem on her head. The rest of the gods follow in order: dies Martis (day of Mars); dies Mercurii (day of Mercury); dies Jovis (day of Jupiter); and dies Veneris (day of Venus), the seventh day of the week.(22)

When the use of the Julian calendar with its recently adopted pagan planetary week spread into northern Europe, the names of the days dies Martis through dies Veneris were replaced by Teutonic gods.(23) Mars' Day became Tiw's Day (Tuesday); Mercury's Day became Woden's Day (Wednesday); Jupiter's Day became Thor's Day (Thursday); and Venus' Day became Friga's Day (Friday.)(24) The influence of the pagan astrological day-names is still seen today. Latin-based languages, such as Spanish, retain astrological names for Monday through Friday, with the Christian influence being seen in their words for Sunday (Domingo, or Lord's day) and Saturday (Sabado, or Sabbath.)

According to Rabanus Maurus (A.D. 776-856), archbishop of Mainz, Germany, Pope Sylvester I attempted to rename the days of the planetary week to correspond with the names of the Biblical week: First Day (first feria), Second Day (second feria), etc.(25) Bede, the "Venerable", (A.D. 672-735), renowned English monk and scholar, also reported Sylvester's attempts to change the pagan names of the days of the week. In De Temporibus, he stated: "But the holy Sylvester ordered them to be called feriæ, calling the first day the ‘Lord's [day]'; imitating the Hebrews,

who named [them] the first of the week, the second of the week, and so on the others."(26) The astrological names, however, were too deeply ingrained. While the official terminology of the Roman Catholic Church remains Lord's Day, Second Day, Third Day, etc., most countries clung in whole or in part to planetary names for the days.

The astrological influence is obviously even more pronounced around the fringes of the Roman Empire, where Christianity arrived only much later. English, Dutch, Breton, Welsh, and Cornish, which are the only European languages to have preserved to this day the original planetary names of all the seven days of the week, are all spoken in areas that were free of any Christian influence during the first centuries of our era, when the astrological week was spreading throughout the Empire.(27)

"The ecclesiastical style of naming the week days was adopted by no nation except the Portuguese who alone use the terms Segunda Feria etc."(28)

The fact that both the Julian calendar and the pagan planetary week have been accepted for use by Christians reveals an amalgamation of Christianity with paganism of which the apostle Paul warned when he wrote:

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth (29) will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie; That they all might be damned (30) who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.(31)

The pagan planetary week, like the Julian calendar that adopted it, is irreparably pagan. Historical facts reveal that neither the Biblical Sabbath nor the Biblical First Day can be

found using the modern calendar. If it is important to worship on a specific day, than it is also important to know which calendar to use and when the change in calendation occurred. It must always be remembered that when one worships reveals whom one worships: the God of Creation, or the god of this world that is the leader of rebellion against the Creator. Each God/god has His/his own calendar by which to be worshipped. Both Saturday and Sunday (as well as Friday) are pagan worship days.

(1) Intercalation: inserting extra days or months to align the shorter lunar year to the longer solar year. Because intercalation was thought to be "unlucky", during the Second Punic War (218-201 B.C.) the priests hesitated to make changes, thus throwing the calendar slightly off the seasons

How To Play a Hunter In WoW

Hunters are one of the attackers or create big damages to enemies, but unlike warriors that can attack closer, hunters are ranged attackers they usually uses bows to attack the enemy. Hunters also have pets or tamed animals that also help them attack their enemies. Long ranged attackers and pets that also contribute in damaging enemies make hunters pretty popular next to warrior job classes. Hunters are one of the important characters in a guild or group. Being a hunter is quite hard because there are so many things to do, but it is also fun because being a hunter is not a tedious job, you will be dealing with more enemies, fight and battles.

How To Play A Hunter in World of Warcraft:

Choose on what kind of hunter you want to be:

Ranged or Markmanship – This type of hunter focuses on damaging the enemies using guns, bows and cross bows. You weapon will depend on your race. For Tauren, Goblins and Dwarves you will be given guns as your weapon. For Forsaken, Humans and Draenei you will be given crossbows and other bow weapons. You will also focus on your stings which debuffs your enemies.
Beast Master – every hunter should have pets or tamed animals. This is an important tool for every hunter because pets can also help them in combats. If you're a Marksman or a Survival hunter then your pets will inflict 10% damage to your enemies. For Beast Masters your pets will inflict 50% damage to your enemies. Beast Masters focuses on making their pets stronger for battles and etc.
Survival Hunter – Many players are using or choosing this type of hunter because it can focus on ranged attack like Marks Man and tame animals like Beast Master. You can also set up traps and you can also do crown control (or CC).

What kind or type of pet should I choose?

If you're more on solos and quests, then the pet that you should choose should be defensive pets like Gorilla, Boar, Bear, Nether Ray, Turtle, Ravager, Warp Stalker, Hyena, Scropid, Crocolisk, Wolf and Raptor.
If you want a pet that can be helpful in raids and PvP's then choose offensive pets like Cat, Spider, Bat, Owl, Ravager, Raptor, Wind Serpent and Nether Ray.
Or you can just choose Balanced Pets so that you'll get both defensive and offensive characteristic pets like Serpent, Sporebat and Dragonhawk.

Train you pet so that it will level up and it will learn new skills. Pet abilities are really important because you will need them on the battlefield. You also need to focus on maintaining and enhancing your hunter skills. These will make you and your pet a good pair. Being a hunter in WoW is fun!

Optimism about continued robust demand for base metals from the world's biggest consumers, US and China, and predictions of supply shortages are further strengthening Tamerlane Ventures' (TSXV:TAM) position as a winning proposition. The company is working towards bringing the world-class zinc-lead Pine Point Property back into production in Northwest Territories, Canada, and developing its Los Pinos heap leach copper project in Peru. "Our NWT project is expected to come on line in 2013, just at the time when these base metal shortages begin. Very much like ‘the perfect storm,' we will enter the market just when the demand for lead and zinc begins to peak," said company CEO, Mike Willett. He discusses Tamerlane's core projects and opportunities that will add to shareholder value.

Resource Intelligence: Pine Point is known as the most profitable base-metal mine in Canadian history. Do your findings so far indicate that this mine is going to live up to its impressive past? Give us some numbers.

Mike Willett: There is a an estimated 70 million tonnes of ore-grade material still in the ground, even after mining 64 million tonnes between 1964 to 1987. We have been working at bringing those resources up to NI 43-101 compliance. Currently we have 7.8 million tonnes in reserves and another 10 million tonnes in resources.

RI: What are the benefits of re-mining a past-producing mine?

MW: There are several benefits to the redevelopment of Pine Point. First, the infrastructure is still in place, specifically the surface access to the deposits and the availability of power, which reduces our overall capital costs. Second, our testing indicates that we will be able to produce the same high-grade concentrates that were produced in the past, which was very well-received by smelters.

RI: What else could you share with us to help investors evaluate the potential of this project?

MW: We are currently building a pipeline of projects at our site. Our initial project covers off six of the 42 deposits that we have. In addition, through an airborne survey completed in 2005, an additional 35 anomalies were identified, which have not been drilled yet.

RI: At what stage is the project now and what`s next to bring it to production stage?

MW: Currently we are working on updating our feasibility study from our 2008 numbers, and finalizing definitive engineering to prepare for the next stage – construction. We are currently raising the funding that will allow construction to commence, which could start as early as the end of this year.

RI: What opportunities do you see in the zinc and lead markets?

MW: Both the zinc and lead markets are heating up. Prices of zinc are in the $1.10 range and lead is in the $1.20 range. These are significant increases from just a year or two ago. We see several of the major zinc mines closing over the next several years, with expected shortages starting to occur in 2013, which is when we expect our project to come on line. Very much like "the perfect storm," we will enter the market just when the demand for lead and zinc begins to peak.

RI: You're currently trading around $0.25 a share. Is this a fair valuation of the company?

MW: Prior to the meltdown of 2008/2009, our company was preparing to put the Pine Point Project into construction, and into production. Our share price had hit the $2.93 range. The market cap of Tamerlane at that time was in the range of $180 million. I see no reason why we shouldn't reach those levels again.

RI: What big news should shareholders and potential investors expect from you next and when would that be?

MW: We are working on one of our deposits, N-204, to bring it up to NI 43-101 compliance. This will add significant resources to our base. We should be able to announce results of our study sometime this month. In addition, we are working diligently at acquiring the financing to get our project rolling, and we are seeing a lot of serious interest.

RI: What value does your company immediately provide to investors?

MW: Our NWT project is one of the few that have permits and agreements in place to start production. Once financing is in place, construction will commence.

RI: How do you plan on showing continued shareholder value for shareholders?

MW: We will continue to work at bringing resources online at our site. In addition, we have our copper property, Los Pinos, which is located in Peru, and plan to focus on that once we get our Pine Point project up and running. As you know, the demand for copper is very strong, and is expected to stay that way in the foreseeable future.

RI: Where do you see Tamerlane over the next three to five years?

MW: We'll see our Pine Point project commence production and our additional deposits will provide an inventory to continue that production far into the future. Our production levels of lead and zinc will place us as a mid-tier base metal producer, here in Canada.

RI: As an investor, give me three reasons I should take a close look at Tamerlane.

MW: We have a very experienced team that has put numerous properties into production and have operated them successfully; our share structure is tight, with only 66 million shares issued; and our property in NWT has tremendous upside potential with an additional 36 deposits in the ground.
